One of those quick and dirty blog updates that doesn't really get anywhere after you've ready it. I think it's called the "been to a conference, i should really do something to improve myself" syndrome.
Disclaimer: This is a post written for the blog's previous design, so quality, length and formatting might not be great. Sorry.
Been busy i have
This weekend has seen me working on the new design of this very blog, this isn’t something I’ve not been doing for a while, I’ve had the goal of getting this thing off tumblr (even though i highly recommend this to any blogger!) and onto Expression Engine since early February…
half built...
It’s been half built for a while, and written in xhtml 1 strict… with a few tweaks here and there to the css before I could start getting it integrated into Expression Engine, I’ve dabbled in html5 for before, but I’d not consider myself anywhere close to something of an expert on the topic, but during a week that I attended the DIBI conference in Gateshead (which was amazing!) some of my colleges were at a workshop in Leeds about html5.
So I’ve taken the first steps into rewriting my code in 5 (with the help of stu), it’s one thing making a “one-page” effort in html5 (a pretty easy one at that) but it’s completely another whether you’re doing it right (as its very easy to incorrectly use some of the new tags and such) and again a completely different kettle of fish when your writing an full website or blog in html5!
cheers to the future
Some interesting headaches await i’m sure, but i’m enjoying it! I’ll try keep you informed on how things develop.
that's all folks!
